Pundit Danny Murphy has said that Kalvin Phillips could be a good signing for Liverpool if they were to take him away from Manchester City this summer.
Earlier this week, it was reported that the Merseyside club are considering making a move to sign the City midfielder before the summer transfer window closes.
This has since led to one pundit and former Liverpool player weighing in on this potential piece of transfer business.
Murphy assesses potential Liverpool move for Phillips

Speaking on talkSPORT, Murphy had this to say about the possibility of Phillips making a move to Liverpool this summer.
He said: “It would depend on the price. If it was half price of what they got for him then maybe it would make sense.
“But there is a stumbling block in terms of the perception. I think if Liverpool were seen to be getting a player at City who couldn’t get a kick, I’m not sure how that would go down.
“But I like him, I think he’s a talent and he needs to start playing. I wouldn’t be that disappointed if Liverpool got him, I think he’s a talent and he’d be great cover or even make that position his own because they’ve only got [Wataru] Endo who they’ve just brought in that can play that position.”

After starting just four of the 21 games he appeared in across his debut season at the Etihad Stadium, the 27-year-old has been an unused substitute in all four of City’s competitive games so far in this campaign.
With that in mind, it’s clear that Pep Guardiola doesn’t have Phillips particularly high up the pecking order for the midfield.
Regardless of his playing time, we feel that City should not consider letting the Englishman leave the club this summer as it could leave them short of central-midfield options should any injuries occur in that area of the squad.
Also, it wouldn’t be ideal to strengthen a side that are presumably aiming to stop City from regaining their titles from last season.
Moving forward, we feel the best next step for the Citizens would be to keep hold of Phillips and give him a chance to prove his worth in the team.
