Manchester City defender John Stones was full of praise for Phil Foden after his side beat AFC Bournemouth 1-0 on Saturday.
Foden, who scored the deciding goal for City at the Vitality Stadium has understandably been widely hailed as he continues to step up to the plate for his boyhood club.
Manuel Akanji went out of his way to laud the in-form midfielder on Instagram after his scintillating showing against the Cherries.
John Stones hails “incredible” Phil Foden
Pep Guardiola claimed that the Englishman has developed into a “world-class player” from the “little boy” who was primarily known for being easy on the eye when he first broke through.
Stephen Kelly believes that it is “very hard to find a flaw” in the £225,000-a-week (Sport Rac) man’s game.
After Manchester City defeated Bournemouth, John Stones emphasised how tremendous Phil Foden has been this season.

“He’s incredible. I don’t have more to say to about him. Everything just comes so easy to him. A joy to watch, a joy to play with and I’m sure he’s enjoying himself”, he said [via Manchester City’s official website].
“He’s scoring winning goals, contributing massively and he’s been incredible for us and I’m sure he will be for a long time.”
Phil Foden should aim to continue putting the numbers up
It is hard to disagree with John Stones about Phil Foden, whose displays have been a sight to behold in a City shirt this campaign.
While nine goals and seven assists in the Premier League is an impressive tally for Foden, his sights should be set on adding many more goal contributions to his name by the end of the season.
If Phil Foden ends up on, say, 15 goals and 12 assists this season, his campaign will be cherished for years to come.
The goal and assists statistics simply tend to grab fans and pundits’ attention while for the 23-year-old himself, his development will accelerate even further if manages to put such numbers up in the league itself.
However, as Stones rightly said, Foden is “contributing massively” to his side and that is what matters most.
