Anton Ferdinand has said that he has no doubt in his mind that West Ham United attacker Lucas Paqueta is aching for a transfer to Manchester City.

Speaking on the FIVE YouTube channel, the former Hammers defender made this claim about the 25-year-old, after it was reported on Wednesday that his ‘head had turned’ after City’s interest.

Now, Anton Ferdinand believes the same as he expects Lucas Paqueta to be hoping and praying that he becomes a Manchester City player.

Anton Ferdinand says he is sure that Lucas Paqueta is dreaming of Manchester City transfer

Branded as a player with ‘unreal skills’ by Vladimir Coufal (via West Ham’s official website), the Brazilian international’s versatility seems to be a key factor behind the Sky Blues’ interest in him.

Capable of both operating as both an advanced midfielder and as a makeshift winger, the former Lyon technician’s arrival could aid Pep Guardiola’s men after the departures of Ilkay Gundogan and Riyad Mahrez.

Now, Anton Ferdinand, who not only came through West Ham’s academy but is a lifelong supporter of the club as well admits that it is likely that Lucas Paqueta is now just awaiting a move to Manchester City.

“Let’s be frank. He’s going to want to go. I don’t think there’ll be a West Ham fan who’ll say he wants to stay. The treble-winners have just come in for you, the best manager in the world wants you, it’s going to be hard for us to keep him. Let’s be honest with this. It’s going to be hard to keep him.”

Why would Lucas Paqueta not be keen on joining the treble-winners?

Anton Ferdinand sums up the draw that comes with playing for Manchester City and Lucas Paqueta is no different in this sense to most players.

With Pep Guardiola guaranteed to stay put for another two years at least, the ex-AC Milan midfielder would have the rare chance of working with arguably the greatest manager of all time.

Paqueta himself would perhaps realise that this would give him the rare chance to learn from a true visionary of the game, whilst potentially completing club football in a few years’ time at one of the best teams of all time.

Naturally, Lucas Paqueta would be pining for the deal to get over the line.
