Kolo Toure says he can see ‘intelligent’ Vincent Kompany coming back to Manchester City as manager one day.
It is a topic that a lot of City fans somewhat uncomfortable.
Since 2016, fans have been treated to incredible success with Pep Guardiola at the helm.
The Spaniard took a season to figure things out and make changes to the squad.
And he has since dominated the English football scene, and of course last season delivered an historic Treble.
For many, Pep is the greatest manager ever.
And so, the thought of the club replacing him is certainly a daunting one.
But it’s something that will happen eventually – and Toure can definitely see former captain Kompany in the hot seat…

For now, there need not be worry about Pep.
He’s here for this season and the next, and it’s been reported he’ll leave when his contract expires in 2025.
But this topic of who could replace him does occasionally crop up.
And Toure can see Kompany coming in. Potentially not as Pep’s direct replacement, but he can see him managing the club at some point.
He said (via mancity.com): “He’s on his way up. I know Vinny and he’ll go step by step. He knows that to get a big club you have to go through some levels.
“He started in the Championship doing unbelievable there. He also helped and supported me a lot, giving me advice when I had my time at Wigan.
“I’m really happy that he’s doing well because he’s an intelligent guy, a hard worker and learning from Pep as well as having his own identity. He’s a really good manager so why not [be a City manager] one day?”
Many Man City fans would like to think Kompany can be an option
Kompany is very much still in the infancy of his managerial career right now.
He’s done brilliant work with Burnley though so far.
At the moment he’s still getting used to life as a Premier League manager.
But it’s admirable to see how he has overhauled things at Turf Moor, changing the style of football to a much more exciting one, while yielding results.
Many City fans would no doubt love the idea of Kompany managing the club one day.
He’s obviously a huge legend, and it would be great to have him back as a successful head coach.
