Last season, the world seemed to have opened its eyes to Stones’ brilliance, as he miraculously managed to dovetail in a role as both a central defender and in midfield.
Now, Clinton Morrison has lauded John Stones, saying, “He’s a top, top player. His improvement over the last two or three years is outstanding. John Stones can play anywhere on a football pitch.”
“Today, I saw him up front, getting into areas up front, causing problems because that’s how they are, Man City, they’re fluid but he’s outstanding.”
Clinton Morrison continued to sing John Stones’ praises, saying, “Ball-carrying centre-half, he can step into midfield and play there, he’s like a Rolls-Royce is how I can describe John Stones when he’s on the ball and he reads the game so well. He’s one of those, he’s always looking, checking his shoulder, knowing his next pass and that’s the sign of a good footballer and that’s what he was.”

Especially since the 2020/2021 season, the treble-winner has been flawless for City and yet, his name is often not highlighted as one of their standout performers.
