Michu has lavished praise on to Manchester City marksman Erling Haaland, who has set the world alight since joining his father’s former club.
Famously, the Spaniard, who is remembered to this day for his terrific 2012/2013 campaign for Swansea City is one of the Norwegian striker’s idols.
Michu has now gave Erling Haaland all the praise in the world for breaking records, week in, week out in a Manchester City shirt.
Michu raves about Erling Haaland
The £51.2 million (Eurosport) man is currently the top goalscorer in Europe with a staggering 51 goals to his name in all competitions.
Haaland even broke the Premier League goal record in his first season, usurping the likes of Mohamed Salah (32), Alan Shearer (34) and Andy Cole (34) as he sits on 35 goals with four games to go.
Michu has been left blown away by the brilliance of Erling Haaland as he only had nice things to say about him.
” I don’t know if I’m his idol but he’s mine. He is a beast. If he doesn’t have injuries, he will score 500 goals. He’s breaking all the records. For me, he’s an idol”, he said in an interview with Sport Bible.
Michu continued to heap praise on to Erling Haaland, saying, “He’s the best striker in the world and he will be for years coming. He’s playing in a really good team with really good players but he’s the best for me.”
“He can’t stop scoring! I think he’s going to improve so much because he’s so young. He’s so cheap as well!”
Haaland discourse is doing somewhat of a U-turn
Michu, much like many others across the world have been left stunned by Erling Haaland and his unprecedented goalscoring record for Manchester City so far.
However, several fans and pundits alike initially claimed that Haaland had made City worse and was the key reason behind their unconvincing displays for much of the campaign.
There were no shortage of critics, who even exist to this day that slate him as they do not consider him as easy on the eye whatsoever or up there with the best as an all-round footballer.
In other words, Erling Haaland has been underappreciated by many who have misunderstood his role in the side and simply choose to ignore the heights he has hit at the Etihad Stadium.
However, at this point, when City are firing on all cylinders and many realise that a multitude of factors were holding them back, Haaland’s greatness is being appreciated at a wider level, which should have always been the case.
