‘He’s too good’: Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says Man City have a player who is simply unbelievable

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has said that he could have signed Manchester City superstar Erling Haaland during his time at Manchester United.

The pair worked together at Molde, with the 50-year-old having known to have helped improving the youngster’s game.

However, Erling Haaland could well have been playing for Manchester United instead of Manchester City if Ole Gunnar Solskjaer got his wish.

Solskjaer says Manchester United could have signed Haaland

Tipped to become a ‘legend of the game’ by Alphonso Davies and branded as a ‘phenomenon’ by Guillem Balague via BBC Sport, the Norwegian striker is Europe’s current top goalscorer (51).

Since signing on the dotted line for Pep Guardiola’s side, a strong case can be made that he has been the outright best player in the world.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who worked alongside Manchester City behemoth Erling Haaland says he could have signed him when he was managing Manchester United.

“I got in contact with United because we had this talented striker who they should have had. But they didn’t listen, unfortunately.”

“£4 million, I asked for. But they never signed him. £4 million! Don’t ask [where he is now]. He’s too good”, he told the Athletic in an interview.

At the end of the day, Erling Haaland is a generational talent and Manchester City should consider themselves fortunate that Manchester United did not snap him up during the Ole Gunnar Solskjaer era.

While the Etihad Stadium has been home to a number of legends, Haaland is a once-in-a-lifetime footballer, who is operating at a level that perhaps even the sport has rarely seen.

For Sky Blues fans to be witnessing perhaps one of the greatest goalscorers we have ever seen alongside arguably the best manager of all time in Pep Guardiola is what dreams are made of.

Perhaps even for the player himself, would he have been able to contend for a treble if he was at Old Trafford?

Likely not, which is why the move ultimately worked out and how for all parties involved, except Solskjaer and City’s bitter rivals.
