Pundit Tony Cascarino has praised Manchester City striker Julian Alvarez for his mentality.
The 23-year-old is in the midst of his second season at the Etihad Stadium after becoming a treble winner at the end of his debut campaign.
Having also won the World Cup with Argentina last season, the striker has seen his fair share of winner’s medals since becoming a City player.
With Alvarez and the rest of his club teammates aiming to regain the titles they won last season, one pundit has highlighted one particular aspect about the player he feels deserves praise.
Cascarino praises Alvarez mentality
Speaking on talkSPORT, Cascarino had this to say about Alvarez and his mentality.
He said: “He’s a young lad with incredible energy but his mentality is exceptional. Everything that has been put in front of him, he hasn’t thrown his toys out of the pram in any shape or form if he’s been left out.
“He’s become a multiple winner in many different ways as a player at the very tender age of 23. Pep [Guardiola] probably loves him as a player, thinks ‘what a great pro to have, a young man I can trust and when I need him I can ask him to do certain jobs,’ and that is what he’s done at City.”
Last season saw the Argentina international start 13 of the 31 Premier League games he featured in, scoring nine goals in the process.
With six games played in this current campaign, Alvarez has found the net two times and provided three assists.
Guardiola also praised the attacker recently and his mindset by saying that he has great behaviour and the “perfect dose of disappointment” when he doesn’t play but the right attitude to take whatever opportunities come his way.
Taking all of that into account, it’s safe to say that not only do City have a top player on their hands in terms of his ability to score and create goals, they also have a top professional and someone that has the sort of mentality that serial winners need.
