Micah Richards has hailed Phil Foden for how important he has become for Manchester City.
The 23-year-old recently delivered an impressive performance in the Manchester club’s 3-1 victory against Everton in midweek where he scored City’s first goal of the evening with a long-range strike from outside the box.
This then led to one pundit and former City player sharing his thoughts on the Englishman and where he best fits into the team.
Richards hails Foden’s midfield masterclass

Speaking in a recent episode of The Rest Is Football, Richards had this to say about what he’s noticed about City and Foden, in particular, recently.
He said: “What I enjoy about this team [is] they’re coming back from losing positions, I think they’ve got 11 points from losing positions and it allows people like Phil Foden to show his true quality.
“We all know how good he is. He sort of went on a little bit of a slump and now he’s playing in that number 10 role where he can see exactly how beneficial he can be to this team. He’s unbelievable isn’t he?”
In the Premier League, Foden has scored five goals and delivered four assists in 18 appearances, featuring in a variety of different midfield and attacking positions.
Across those 18 appearances, the 23-year-old has racked up the second-highest number of shot-creating actions (68) and joint-second-highest number of shots on target (17) in the City squad.
His overall performances have earned the England international a season rating of 7.25/10 from WhoScored, making him the joint-fourth-highest-rated player at the club alongside Bernardo Silva.
Moving forward, if Foden can be at his most productive in terms of delivering goal contributions from an attacking-midfield role as he did against Everton, we feel that he should stay in that position for the time being.
