Gary Neville last night said he understood why Erling Haaland showed his frustrations at half-time against Burnley.

The Manchester City superstar grabbed headlines after the game for scoring two goals against the Clarets at Turf Moor.

But there has also been some talk about the scenes that occurred at half-time.

As the players made their way off the pitch, Haaland had an on-field argument with Pep Guardiola.

Haaland had expressed his frustrations about not receiving a ball through from Bernardo Silva.

The incident was looked at on Monday Night Football last night – and Haaland had sympathy from Neville.

Seemingly, it stemmed from from Haaland making a couple of runs and not being found by teammates.

Firstly, there was an opportunity for Rodri to find him, but the Spaniard played in someone else.

And then, Bernardo might have slipped Haaland in but again the 23-year-old was ignored. That was what seemed to spark Haaland’s annoyance.

Speaking about the passage of play, Neville said: “I mean, the thing for me as we swing that camera round, honestly I can see why Erling Haaland is frustrated. Haaland beats this defender all day long.

“I think because (Jordan) Beyer is not round on the cover, I think he thinks he can get in directly on goal. He wants that ball delivered directly to him.”

Haaland makes so many runs and he doesn’t get picked out

Haaland is constantly making runs for City and he actually doesn’t get picked out anywhere near as much as he should. Because they are often great runs.

Kevin De Bruyne seems to be the only player capable of picking him out regularly.

The Belgian looks like he could be out for a while with his latest injury, so Pep is going to need someone to step up in his absence and start playing these balls through.

Haaland obviously has the pace to latch onto these through balls.

So you can completely understand him showing his frustration at times.
