Fabrizio Romano has now shared how Manchester City No.9 Erling Haaland feels about missing out on the Ballon d’Or to Lionel Messi.

The Italian journalist was speaking on the Here We Go podcast.

So, what did Fabrizio Romano say about Erling Haaland? Let’s take a look…

What’s the story?

Well, the official announcement is not until around 8pm tonight (Monday).

However – as usual – the winner is leaked early, and many reliable sources, including Romano, have claimed that Messi will win the Ballon d’Or.

The 36-year-old has reportedly landed his eighth Ballon d’Or after finally guiding Argentina to the World Cup back in December.

Messi remarkably scored seven goals in seven games – while also providing three assists – in Qatar to secure his first World Cup success.

While that was a highly impressive achievement, many have argued that Haaland should win the Ballon d’Or.

The Norway international incredibly scored 52 goals in just 53 appearances to help Manchester City win a historic Premier League, UEFA Champions League and FA Cup treble.

Anyone who enjoys a season like that – but still misses out on the Ballon d’Or – would surely have every right to be furious, and Romano has now shared how Haaland feels about Messi winning.

The reliable journalist said: “Erling Haaland will be there. It is a special moment for him. From what I am hearing, he is going to spend some time in Paris before returning to training with Manchester City.

“Of course, Erling Haaland wanted to win the Ballon d’Or. He knows that he will have the chance to do it in the future because he is still super young. The feeling is, okay, he wanted to win, but at the same time, he knows that the future is going to be bright, so he will keep fighting.”

The next Ballon d’Or is surely Haaland’s

In our view, Haaland’s attitude is spot on, and he will win the Ballon d’Or next year.

The 23-year-old is already on course for another special goalscoring campaign with 13 goals in 15 appearances so far this season, and Manchester City also look on course to secure more trophies.

Therefore – especially as the schedule holds no World Cup for Messi in 2024 – the Ballon d’Or is surely Haaland’s next time around.
