Kevin De Bruyne’s future at Manchester City will remain an intriguing topic of conversation until the end of the 2024/2025 season.
De Bruyne is contracted to Manchester City until 2025 and as things stand, the midfield maestro is in his final season at the club.
Last month, De Bruyne revealed he will discuss his future with Manchester City and rubbished any rumours about him speaking to other clubs in the summer to engineer a potential exit.
The Manchester City vice-captain has suffered an injury-riddled season so far.
The 33-year-old picked up his latest knock against Inter Milan and since then, he has been deemed unavailable to face Arsenal, Newcastle United, Slovan Bratislava, Fulham and Wolves.
Pep Guardiola’s men have only dropped points against Arsenal and Newcastle since the Belgian’s injury.

San Diego FC willing to pay £15 million salary to seal De Bruyne summer move
In July, it was claimed that De Bruyne snubbed a £1 million-a-week transfer to Al-Ittihad due to reservations about changing his son, Mason’s schooling and not to uproot his family life away from Manchester.
Several clubs around the world would understandably be open to paying a king’s ransom to sign one of the biggest names in world football.
As per a report by Sky Switzerland, San Diego FC are ready to pay De Bruyne the same annual salary of $20 million (£15.3 million) that he takes home at Manchester City to secure his services in the summer.
It has been claimed that the six-time Premier League is “tired” of the intensity of games in European football.
Despite Cristiano Ronaldo’s desire to ensure De Bruyne eventually becomes an Al-Nassr player, his wife, Michele Lacroix does not see raising her children in the Middle East at the moment.
De Bruyne is believed not to be looking to extend his contract at City and instead, he sees himself living and playing his football in the United States.
In May, it was reported that De Bruyne had spoken to San Diego FC and he would be keen on a move to the club if he played in the MLS (Major League Soccer).
How much Man City are reportedly willing to sell Kevin De Bruyne for
If the six-time Premier League winner has indeed decided that his future lies in the United States, the key figures at City will have to be resigned to the fact that arguably their greatest-ever player will leave the club in the summer.
In January, it was reported that Manchester City had set a £100 million asking price for De Bruyne for any potential suitors.
At the time, it was also claimed that Pep Guardiola was hopeful that the veteran would extend his contract beyond 2025 at the Etihad Stadium.
In February, The Athletic also reported that Manchester City would happily let the treble-winner leave the club if they were offered a fee of £90 million in the summer of 2024.
Whether San Diego FC will be willing to pay such a sum to sign De Bruyne will be interesting to see.
Furthermore, Manchester City’s willingness to keep their talismanic creator could increase if he returns to his brilliant best upon returning to full fitness.
As things stand, there are several uncertainties surrounding his future.
