Kalvin Phillips has shared a message to Manchester City on social media following his loan move to West Ham United.

After only starting two games throughout the first half of the season, the midfielder recently joined West Ham on loan until the end of the season in an effort to get more game time.

As this move was officially announced, the 27-year-old shared his response with a 21-word message to City and the supporters.

In response to City’s post on Twitter announcing his move to the Hammers, Phillips had this to say.

He said: “Thank you and good luck for the rest of the season! A huge thanks to all the City fans as well.”

City signed the Englishman from Leeds United in a deal worth £45m back in the 2022 summer transfer window.

His debut season at the Etihad Stadium saw Phillips feature in just 21 games across all competitions, starting only four of them.

Despite that, the midfielder said in the summer that his aim was to stay at City and fight for a place in Pep Guardiola’s team.

However, that never happened, with Guardiola saying back in December that he struggles to visualise the former Leeds star in his ideal City team.

While it’s safe to say that his City career has not been particularly successful, his social media message shows that he feels very positive towards the club and has left on good terms.

In fact, Guardiola said on Thursday that he was always so pleased with Phillips’ behaviour on and off the pitch, showing how professional he was even though he wasn’t playing regularly.

Moving forward, the ideal situation for him now would be if he can play regularly for West Ham and secure his place in England’s squad for the upcoming Euros.
