Manchester City goalscorer Erling Haaland has revealed how he felt after his much-discussed miss in his side’s 3-1 victory against Manchester United.

While commentating on the game, Gary Neville was stunned seeing the 23-year-old fail to even hit the target and questioned whether he was trying to be “clever” and place the ball into the roof of the net.

Michail Antonio also claimed that even last season, the Norwegian forward was guilty of missing quite a few simple chances in front of goal.

With Haaland missing quite a few gilt-edged chances in City’s recent 1-1 draw against Chelsea, it was no surprise to see him face criticism after skying perhaps the easiest chance any striker would get against United.

Many questioned why the former Borussia Dortmund phenomenon did not just head to the ball, as it was far too high for him to place his foot through it and find the target on Sunday.

In a latest interview with TNT Sports, Erling Haaland was quizzed about his thoughts on his miss against Manchester United, now that he can breathe a sigh of relief that Manchester City won the game.

“I didn’t believe my own eyes but it’s going to happen again in my career so what can I say?”, he said.

Perfect outlook from Erling Haaland

Often, strikers tend to go under their shells after missing huge opportunities and shy away from them in the future.

But it seems like Manchester City number nine Erling Haaland understands that while his miss against Manchester United was a howler, it is a part and parcel of football.

As a result, Haaland has kept a cool head about his miss, with Ake also once pinpointing how his teammate tends not to get too worked up after such instances and is always ready to get on the scoresheet, as was the case against United.
