Gary Lineker has said that Brighton & Hove Albion striker Evan Ferguson reminds him of Manchester City superstar Erling Haaland.

Speaking on BBC Match of the Day, the renowned pundit was commenting on the 18-year-old’s tremendous hat-trick against Newcastle United.

Gary Lineker was left stunned by the brilliance of Evan Ferguson as he went on to liken him to Erling Haaland.

Branded as a player ‘born scoring goals’ by Juanma Lillo, the Norwegian too bagged three against Fulham on Saturday.

With six goals in four Premier League games, he is the division’s top scorer after a season where he broke the goal record by registering a staggering total of 36.

Now, Gary Lineker has said that he sees similarities between Evan Ferguson and Erling Haaland.

“I do see a hint of Haaland about him. The stature and his movement, and his youth as well”, he said.

The Irishman has been compared to Haaland in the past, ever since he broke into the Seagulls’ first-team.

Evan Ferguson should study the Manchester City frontman’s game

While Evan Ferguson will likely be buzzing to be mentioned in the same breath as Erling Haaland by Gary Lineker, he will also likely be trying to emulate the standout striker in the Premier League.

Being a physical specimen himself, the teenager should be watching clips of the treble-winner to assess how he uses his frame to dominate defences and create spaces for his teammates.

Similarly, Haaland’s movement is perhaps the best in the world and Ferguson must also master this facet of his game to reach similar levels.

Not just Evan Ferguson but any upcoming striker, regardless of his stature or speed must be studying Erling Haaland’s game to be able to impact games in as many ways as possible.

Despite only being 23 years of age, the Manchester City fan favourite also seems like a master of his craft.
