One of the questions that awaits answering this season is whether Manchester City will defend their Premier League crown once again.
While the prospect of becoming the first team in English history to win four league titles in a row is realistic for City, one could argue that out of the title contenders, there is a case for them being the most unconvincing so far.
At the same time, Pep Guardiola’s men put in a sublime showing against Newcastle United before the international break, which served as a reminder of their undeniable class.

Luton Town winger Andros Townsend needs no reminding of how special this Manchester City team is as he is backing them to go all the way this season.
“I feel like Man City are the only team in world football who can go and win their remaining 10 games and go on and win the league. I have that nagging feeling Man City will just go on and turn it on”, he said on BBC Radio 5 Live’s Monday Night Club.
“[Kevin] De Bruyne is coming back into form, they have players coming back at the right time and they have been there and done it.”
It should not be seen as the end of the world if Manchester City do not get over the line
Many would agree with Andros Townsend as his rationale for Manchester City winning the Premier League is completely based on recent history.
The same cases perhaps cannot be made for Liverpool and especially, Arsenal.
However, if City do falter in the title race and do not win the league this season, it should not be viewed as the end of the world.
At some point, Guardiola and Co., as was in the 2016/2017 and 2019/2020 campaigns will fail to win the title.
With the Sky Blues having won three league crowns in a row as well as a treble, it would be harsh to slate this group of players and managers excessively if either Arsenal or Liverpool beat them to the title.
One team cannot win the league every season and the same rule even applies to this relentlessly brilliant Manchester City side.
