Journalist Alasdair Gold has claimed that if Real Madrid wrap up a transfer for Erling Haaland in 2024, Harry Kane could still sign for Manchester City.

He made this claim on the Gold & Guest talk Tottenham podcast, as they were breaking down the Spurs legend’s future, who has been valued at £100 million by his club, according to a report by GOAL.

In case Erling Haaland leaves Manchester City to sign for Real Madrid next year, that is, Harry Kane could finally get the chance to work with Pep Guardiola.

Journalist: Harry Kane to Manchester City is possible if Erling Haaland joins Real Madrid

In the summer of 2021, it seemed inevitable that the England captain would join the Sky Blues to replace Sergio Aguero.

However, a move did not end up coming to fruition, as City went on to win the Premier League last season with an impressive 93-point total.

As Harry Kane could well end up leaving Tottenham, while Manchester City have not been touted as a potential destination due to the presence of Erling Haaland, Alasdair Gold has said that a move in 2024 may still become a reality if the latter joins Real Madrid.

“I still have this theory in my head that maybe in his mind as well, and this is not to say this is what he’s thinking. This is me projecting maybe what he would maybe think is that if you get to the summer of 2024, maybe Haaland goes to Real Madrid and Man City are then looking again for a striker to lead their line.”

Unlikely that Manchester City sign the Englishman

Even if Erling Haaland, who has been offered a new contract does end up signing for Real Madrid as soon as in 2024, it is unlikely that Manchester City will re-ignite their interest in Harry Kane.

The Englishman, despite still being an elite striker turns 30 in July and even if the club could sign him on a free transfer in the summer, it would be out of character for the club to make such a short-term move.

Especially with Julian Alvarez at their disposal, who has all the makings of a world-class No.9, while being seven years younger than Harry Kane.
