Sky Sports journalist Dharmesh Sheth has claimed that Bernardo Silva could finally leave Manchester City this summer.
After being linked with a move away from the Etihad Stadium last summer but deciding to stay with the Citizens, the midfielder has once again been mentioned with the exit door at City.
Specifically, as well as Paris Saint-Germain reportedly interested in signing him, the Portuguese international has also attracted interest from Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal for a big-money move.
This has since led to one journalist sharing his thoughts on the situation.
Sheth assesses Silva situation
Speaking in a recent video on the HaytersTV YouTube channel, Sheth had this to say on Silva and City’s stance in terms of a potential exit this summer.
He said: “Every single summer for the last two, three summers there’s been links with him leaving. I just wonder whether this is the summer where he actually does leave.
“City will not stand in the way of players if they want to leave, but they will ensure that they get the right price for that player.”
Back in the 2017 summer transfer window, City paid £43m to sign Silva from Monaco and have since gone on to see him make 306 appearances for the club across all competitions.
Throughout his time with Pep Guardiola’s side, the midfielder has scored 55 goals, delivered 59 assists and won numerous trophies including the Champions League and five Premier League titles.
Taking into account how the 28-year-old featured in all but six of City’s games last season, this highlights how important he is for the team and why his potential departure would be a big blow for them.
However, given the consistency regarding the number of times he’s apparently been looking to leave the club, if a suitable offer were to come in for him this summer, this may convince them to, as Sheth spoke about, not stand in Silva’s way and let him leave.
