Josko Gvardiol has now been speaking about his time at Manchester City under Pep Guardiola.
The Croatia international spoke to Manchester City’s official website about his first few months at the Etihad Stadium.
So, what did Josko Gvardiol say? Let’s take a look…
What Josko Gvardiol said about Manchester City
Well, the Manchester City No.24 has been solid in his first 14 appearances for the treble winners – aside from a difficult evening against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, which led to some criticism.
Gvardiol is visibly improving on a weekly basis, although even the £77.6m defender acknowledges that there is room for more growth – the Croatian also shared when he realised just how difficult life would be under Guardiola.
The £200,000-a-week man said: “I knew from the first moment I was on the pitch with the ball at my feet for Manchester City, it’s going to take some time to adapt. I am doing better than I did at the very start, but there is still a lot of room for me to improve.”
Gvardiol’s first appearance for Manchester City came in the dying stages of August’s 3-0 win against Burnley at Turf Moor, which is presumably the moment he discusses – unless the defender meant on the training pitch.

The 21-year-old made a name for himself as one of the best in the business during his time at RB Leipzig, along with his performances for Croatia at the 2022 World Cup.
There is a reason why Manchester City spent £77.6m on Gvardiol, and we thoroughly expect him to become one of the best defenders in the Premier League within a year or two – especially with Guardiola at the helm.
Manchester City fans must be patient
Some Manchester City fans may feel a tad underwhelmed with Gvardiol so far – given the money spent on his signature – although patience is needed. Very few defenders get it right under Guardiola straight away.

John Stones took a while to grasp the Spaniard’s demands – even finding himself benched a few years ago – with others sometimes requiring at least 12 months or 24 months to understand the tactical side of things.
Therefore – especially as he is just 21 years of age – Manchester City fans must be patient with Gvardiol, as he acclimatises to life at the Etihad Stadium.
