As Nicolo Barella continues to get linked with a transfer to Manchester City, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp once sang his praises.

Ahead of the Reds’ clash in the Champions League with Inter Milan, the German coach gave his two cents on the Italian international, who has reported to be viewed as a replacement for the exit-linked Bernardo Silva.

Shared by Blood Red: Liverpool FC in February last year, Jurgen Klopp lauded Manchester City-linked midfielder Nicolo Barella.

After Ilkay Gundogan’s departure, it could well be the case that Bernardo Silva also bids farewell to the Etihad Stadium.

In fact, for the past three summer windows, the Portuguese international has looked on the brink of leaving City.

If Nicolo Barella does end up joining Manchester City as his replacement, he would have a huge admirer of his in the Premier League in Jurgen Klopp.

“He’s a really good player, a really good player and I like him a lot. He has all the things you want from a midfield player: he is aggressive, he is technical, he can run for ages and all these kinds of things. That’s a top-class player.”

Nicolo Barella would undoubtedly be an excellent addition

While Bernardo Silva is a one-of-a-kind footballer, who would be virtually irreplaceable at Manchester City, Nicolo Barella would be a brilliant successor for him as Jurgen Klopp was right in crediting him.

The Inter Milan talisman, much like Bernardo is technically secure, an expert passer, adept at controlling games and is an absolute engine in the middle of the park.

In fact, it would not even come as a surprise if Barella took Kovacic’s place in the side, if a move went over the line.

However, whether a deal will actually be struck looks uncertain, especially with the rumours about Bernardo Silva’s exit dying down lately.
