Ruben Dias has shared how much he loves his Manchester City teammate John Stones and how the Englishman has fared in his new midfield role.

The Portuguese international is on the verge of potentially helping his side win the treble this weekend against Inter Milan in the Champions League final following their latest Premier League and FA Cup victories.

Building up to this massive game, the centre-back has picked out one of his City teammates that he has a particular admiration for on and off the pitch.

Dias heaps praise on Stones

Speaking to the official City website, Dias said this about Stones and what it has been like playing with him in recent weeks having seen the 29-year-old play in a midfield role.

He said: “It has changed the way we do it. The biggest change is to John. From being to my side and then he has to go in the middle and have a completely different role from what it used to be.

“He has definitely showed us how good he is and how good he can be in that position. I am happy for him and I love him. It’s a big step in our team because you end up having an extra man in the middle and then in two seconds he is next to me.”

Having spent the first half of the season switching between the centre-back and right-back positions, the England international has been spending a lot of time operating in a defensive-midfield position since April.

This season has seen the two players complete the full 90 minutes together in 13 games across all competitions, none of which City have lost.

This showcases how pivotal the duo have been for Pep Guardiola’s side and why we feel they should be included in the starting XI to take on Inter Milan in Saturday’s Champions League final.

Now that Dias has shared how much he loves Stones and highlighted his importance for the team in his current role, this reveals the chemistry they have and how that benefits the side as a whole.
