Thiago Almada, who has been linked with a transfer to Manchester City once expressed his love for the club due to idolising Carlos Tevez.

As relayed by the Metro, it was also reported on Monday that Pep Guardiola’s men made contact with Atlanta United in order to sign the 22-year-old.

What can be confirmed is that Thiago Almada has always admired Manchester City, especially during the Carlos Tevez era.

Perhaps one reason why the Argentine has generated interest from the Sky Blues is due to their need to sign an advanced midfielder.

Considering Mateo Kovacic is a traditional No.8, City lack a midfielder capable of operating further up the pitch in the same vein as Ilkay Gundogan last season, who left the club to join Barcelona.

Thiago Almada may be the answer for Manchester City, who said in 2020 that he likes the club and religiously watched them, especially to tune in and witness Carlos Tevez in sky blue.

“I really like Manchester City, I watched Carlos Tevez when he played on Saturday mornings.”

“I play as Manchester City on PlayStation, I always liked them.”

The Sun reported in 2020 that the former City striker is one of his main idols, a revelation that emerged from the player’s camp.

Unlikely that Manchester City seriously pursue his signature

While the youngster is extremely gifted and his affinity towards Carlos Tevez and Manchester City is heartwarming to discover, one questions whether the treble-winners will actually ramp up their efforts to sign him.

For starters, Phil Foden seems to be entrusted by Pep Guardiola centrally, as was the case in the Champions League final and on a number of occasions last season.

Plus, the Argentine is simply too raw a prospect to be backed to succeed a player of the calibre of Ilkay Gundogan, especially ahead of a campaign where City will once again try to win as much silverware as possible.
