Matheus Nunes has said that he can’t wait to learn from working alongside Manchester City teammate Kevin De Bruyne.
The 25-year-old joined the Manchester club from fellow Premier League side Wolves in a deal worth £53m towards the end of the previous summer transfer window.
Since then, the Portuguese international has featured in 11 games across all competitions but only started five of them.
Despite not being a regular in the team, the midfielder has highlighted another figure in the City squad that he is eager to learn from and play alongside.
Nunes eager to learn from De Bruyne
Speaking in a recent interview with Sky Sports, Nunes had this to say about De Bruyne.
He said: “I really want to learn from De Bruyne. But I still haven’t had a chance to watch him play yet.”
City signed the Belgian back in the 2015 summer transfer window from Wolfsburg in a deal worth £55m.
Since then, the midfielder has made 358 appearances for the club across all competitions, scoring 96 goals, providing 153 assists and winning numerous trophies along the way.
Nunes isn’t the only City player who shared their admiration and eagerness to learn and play alongside the 32-year-old, as Jack Grealish said back in 2021 shortly after he joined the club that De Bruyne is someone he was very excited to play with.
Having been out injured since August with a hamstring issue that he had to have surgery on, De Bruyne hasn’t really had the chance to play in the league with any of the other players City signed during the previous summer transfer window.
Moving forward, it’s safe to say that everyone at City will be hoping that the star midfielder can get back to full fitness as soon as possible and is able to play a significant part in the remainder of the season and help the likes of Nunes get to grips with what it’s like to play in this team and be successful.
