Rio Ferdinand has now given his prediction about whether Manchester City could win the treble, as they prepare to face Inter Milan in the Champions League final.
The well-known pundit was quizzed about whether City could replicate Manchester United’s standalone achievement in 1999 on his show, ‘Vibe With Five’.
Rio Ferdinand gave his prediction on whether Manchester City could actually go on and win the treble on Saturday in Istanbul.
Rio Ferdinand gives Manchester City treble prediction
Unsurprisingly, Red Devils legends are fearful of their cross-town rivals matching their achievement, as Nicky Butt once openly admitted.
While a number of Premier League clubs have come close to doing so, they have inevitably failed, which is exemplified by the fact that only Bayern Munich have achieved it twice.
However, Rio Ferdinand has put the rivalry with Manchester City as a Manchester United icon aside, as his prediction sees them beating Inter Milan relatively comfortably and winning the treble.

“Yeah, it’s happening. Man United fans have got to get their head around it now. The treble is going to happen. No disrespect to Inter. Inter will cause problems, don’t get me wrong. But I don’t think they’ll cause enough problems to upset the applecart.”
“I think City are going to romp to it. I think they’re going to win by two clear goals. They’ll control the whole tempo of the game. The treble will be theirs.”
It would be one of the greatest upsets in football if Manchester City falter
While Inter Milan are a top-quality side, Rio Ferdinand is right in his prediction that sees Manchester City, who are perhaps the best team in the world cruise to a victory and win the treble.
Simone Inzaghi’s side finished third in Serie A and have generally not even been at the levels they were under Antonio Conte in the 2020/2021 season.
With City having a treble on the line, having beaten Manchester United in the FA Cup and usurped Arsenal to the Premier League title, it would be an upset for the history books if the Italians do a number on them.
