Jamie Carragher has said Manchester City hitman Erling Haaland could emulate Didier Drogba after his masterclass against Burnley.
Speaking to Sky Sports, the renowned pundit was awestruck by the £51 million (The Athletic) man’s display against Vincent Kompany’s side.
So much so that Jamie Carragher likened Erling Haaland to Didier Drogba after Manchester City cruised past Burnley on Friday night.

It was hard not to applaud the 23-year-old’s stunning brace, with Alan Shearer singing his praises during the game as well.
Branded as ‘elite’ by The Elastico, Haaland’s opener from pure range was an example of his unteachable instinct while his second goal was a demonstration of his remarkable ball-striking ability.
As Jamie Carragher was taken aback by how well Manchester City striker Erling Haaland fared against Burnley, he also said he could emulate Didier Drogba in terms of his all-round package.

“When you think back to last season and the title being won, it was probably when Manchester City beat Arsenal at home. Man City got the ball into Haaland and to Kevin De Bruyne so early and they caused so many problems. I actually thought Erling’s second-half performance was outstanding.”
Before likening him to Didier Drogba, Jamie Carragher lauded the well-rounded performance on show from Erling Haaland for Manchester City against Burnley.
“Yes, he got the goals in the first half and we know how clinical he is. But how often do we put that stat up that he’s got a goal and he’s only had five touches. For me, when you’ve got a player of that quality, you want him to have more touches. At times, I feel they can go a little bit more direct and get the ball into him. In the second half, I was really impressed with his hold up play. It looked like he would shoot at one point but he slid in [Julian] Alvarez. It was brilliant play, and for me, he is not just a goalscorer. There’s more than that.”
Jamie Carragher concluded the praise for Manchester City protagonist Erling Haaland after his heroics against Burnley by claiming that his ceiling is to reach the level of Didier Drogba, saying, “I can imagine him being like Didier Drogba, but with loads of goals. I still there’s more to see from Erling Haaland.”
Despite being a little over a season in at the Etihad Stadium, the youngster’s impact has been such that he is already being backed to match Premier League legends.
