Rodri has shared what he said to his Manchester City teammates after he scored the winning goal in the Champions League final against Inter Milan.
The Spaniard found the net in the 67th minute of the match in Istanbul against the Italian club after Pep Guardiola’s side overcame Bayern Munich and Real Madrid to get to the final, a goal which ultimately led to the Manchester club securing their first Champions League title.
Now that the new season is set to kick off in the coming days, the midfielder has reflected on what is surely his most significant moment as a City player.
Rodri shares what he said after Inter Milan goal

Speaking in a recent episode of the Official Man City Podcast, Rodri had this to say about his Champions League-winning goal and his immediate reaction to it on the night.
He said: “When I scored the goal, I remember in the euphoric moment I was saying ‘still 20 minutes, now starts the real battle,’ because when you have nothing to lose after that they start bringing players on up front and in that moment you have to work and that was the mentality of the team.”

The first half of the match saw City with more possession (62%), although both sides had four attempts at goal each.
In comparison, the second period of the final saw Inter edge the possession (51%) and have 10 shots at goal in total compared to City’s three, five of which were on target.
