Manchester City are top of the Premier League after beating Sheffield United 2-1 at Bramall Lane.

The Citizens are taken nine points from nine, but almost came unstuck against the Blades.

City dominated the ball and had so many chances in the game.

A lot of them fell to Erling Haaland, but only finished the day with one goal.

In the first-half, he missed a penalty.

And you could see that he was frustrated, considering how much he had been manhandled by the Sheffield United defenders.

Haaland loves the physical battle, but some of the defending against the Norwegian was questionable.

He did score in the second-half after great work by Jack Grealish.

And now Rodri, who was the match-winner, has revealed what he said to his teammate today.

And he was asked about Haaland’s tricky afternoon today.

He said of his teammate: “It was great in the sense that he never lost the face. I was speaking to him and telling him ‘don’t drop (your head/level)’, you know? Because sometimes it’s frustrating. He’s surrounded by many players.

“They grab him, they man-mark a lot. And then he misses a penalty. But in the end he scored, he was decisive. This is what the top players do.”

Credit to Haaland for continuing to plug away

Today was a real battle for Haaland and credit must go to the Sheffield United defenders.

It is probably one of the toughest outings he will have all season.

And yet he still managed to score, which just says it all.

Haaland is just relentless and will never stop in his pursuit of scoring goals for City.

It’s good to hear Rodri being a great leader and supporting Haaland after a very tough first-half. His brilliance very much extends beyond his quality as a player.
