Manchester City are the Champions of Europe, and, for some reason, Chris Sutton has been questioning whether or not Pep Guardiola will now leave Manchester City in the near future.
Speaking on BBC Radio Five Live 606, Sutton was discussing City’s chances of repeat success with a fan who had called in, and he questioned whether or not Pep would stay.
Understandably, Robbie Savage was unimpressed by Sutton’s suggestion, branding his co-host an idiot for suggesting that Pep would leave the club after reaching the top of the mountain and winning the treble.
Savage hits back at Sutton
The two pundits got into a bit of an argument about Guardiola.
“Do you think Pep will hang around, do you think Pep will stay? He likes a challenge,” Sutton said.
“Why would you want to move on Chris? Ok, where would he go? Who are bigger than City right now, they’ve just won the Champions League and you’re asking where he’s going next. They’ve won the Champions League and you’re saying what’s next for Pep. I have to stop you there. Tell this idiot, what?” Savage said.
Why would he leave?
As much as it pains us to do it, we have to take Robbie Savage’s side in this argument.
Indeed, the former Manchester United man is right, why would Pep Guardiola leave City at this point?
He’s finally built a team that are capable of being European champions, and he will want repeat success in the years to come.
Guardiola is a manager who is obsessed with winning, and as we’ve seen all season there’s no club in world football better equipped to win it all than Manchester City.
The treble is in the books, but don’t be shocked if Pep is already eyeing up a quadruple next season.
