Danny Murphy has suggested that Kalvin Phillips should consider leaving Manchester City this summer.
The Englishman recently spoke out about his debut season at the Manchester club and how he is aiming to have a more prominent place in the team throughout their upcoming campaign.
This has since led to one pundit sharing his thoughts on the player and his situation at City.
Murphy says Phillips should consider leaving City

Speaking on talkSPORT, Murphy said this about Phillips and what he would do if he were in the City midfielder’s current position.
He said: “If I was him, I think you’d have to be realistic and understand that it hasn’t worked and actually, yeah okay, if he wants to give up another year doing the same thing, fair enough, that’s up to him.
“If he’s had a conversation with Pep [Guardiola] that maybe we don’t know about, that ‘look, we’re going to use you more,’ then of course you’re going to stay, it’s the most successful team, but I personally, if I went a season at any club where I was playing that little, I left, I manufactured a way out.
“And let’s be right about it, he’s a good player, there’ll be plenty of takers for him.”
After joining the Citizens from Leeds United in a deal worth a reported fee of £45m, the England international only started four of the 21 games he featured in across all competitions.

In fact, the two Premier League games he started against Chelsea and Brentford only came after the club were officially named as champions.
This, therefore, shows that he wasn’t at the top of Guardiola’s pecking order and why he has the ambition of getting more minutes under his belt next season.
However, if the City boss feels that Phillips hasn’t got what it takes to be an important player for the team, it may be the best option for all parties to move him out of the club and somewhere he’d be able to play regularly.
Moving forward, with the treble-winners set to start their pre-season schedule next week, this will be a critical time for the midfielder and potentially play a big part in whether he’ll be a regular in the team next season or not.
