Jan Aage Fjortoft has claimed that Mikel Arteta and Jurgen Klopp would be desperate to sign one specific Manchester City player.
Both Arsenal and Liverpool have signed players from fellow Premier League sides over the past few years, with the Gunners even signing two from City during the 2022 summer window in the shape of Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko.
Now though, after one current City player found himself on the end of some significant criticism after his latest performance for the Blues, one pundit has weighed in on the situation.
Fjortoft says Arteta and Klopp would love to sign Man City player
In a recent post on his official X account, Fjortoft had this to say after Roy Keane likened Erling Haaland to a League Two player after his performance in City’s recent 0-0 draw against Arsenal, which resulted in questions being asked about the striker’s ability to play for the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool.
He said: “This «Haaland wouldn’t start for Arsenal and Liverpool” – statements. For me: Lazy punditry. Arteta and Klopp would walk to Manchester and carry Haaland with them if they could. Any other coach in the world too by the way.”
In 24 Premier League appearances this season, the Norwegian has scored 18 goals, making him the top scorer in the division.
His overall performances have earned the striker a season rating of 7.34/10 from WhoScored, making him the eighth-highest-rated player in the league, placing him above the likes of Martin Odegaard and Ollie Watkins.
This makes it easy to see why Fjortoft has dismissed this recent criticism towards the City star and why he thinks Arteta and Klopp would love to have him in their respective sides.
However, with the 23-year-old failing to register a shot on target against Arsenal on Sunday, this could be seen as being a disappointment given how clinical he has proven himself to be while at the Manchester club.
Moving forward, the best thing for Haaland to do now is to put all the talk about him out of his head and just focus on getting back amongst the goals during what is undoubtedly a crucial part of City’s season.
