Ilkay Gundogan has shared how impressed he has been with Erling Haaland’s behaviour behind the scenes at Manchester City.

The striker has enjoyed a very successful debut Premier League campaign with the Citizens since arriving from Borussia Dortmund last summer in a deal worth a reported fee of £51m.

With 35 league appearances to his name, the Norwegian scored 36 goals and picked up his first league title.

This afternoon could see the 22-year-old win his first FA Cup with Pep Guardiola’s side if they manage to beat their close rivals Manchester United.

In the build-up to this game, the City captain has shared some behind-the-scenes details on what the summer recruit has been like away from the pitch.

Gundogan praises Haaland’s off-field behaviour

Speaking in a recent video from the official FA Cup YouTube channel, Gundogan said this about Haaland.

He said: “He has been class, on and off the pitch.

“He has done amazing so far, not just with the goals, of course, this is something all the people see and that gets a lot of attention, but, for me, it’s about his behaviour inside the dressing room, inside the team, with staff members, how he behaves in the physio room, in the kitchen, in the canteen with people.

“He’s an amazing guy and obviously he’s here to stay for a long, long time and I think it’s amazing for the club.”

While many City fans will have been blown away with the centre-forward’s goalscoring efforts this season, it’s great to hear just how great he is behind the scenes around the club.

Also, with Gundogan saying that Haaland will be a City player for a long time, this will be music to the ears of lots of supporters, especially if he continues scoring the number of goals he has done this season.

Moving forward, if the striker can add some more goals to his impressive tally this season and help his side win the FA Cup and Champions League finals, this would surely top off what has been a fantastic debut campaign for him.
