‘I’m feeling good’… 23-year-old Man City player suggests he’s ‘finally’ getting back to full fitness

Erling Haaland believes he is ‘finally’ getting back to his full fitness.

Manchester City returned to their free-scoring best after two narrow 1-0 wins in succession by destroying Luton Town 6-2 on Tuesday.

The emphatic victory sees Pep Guardiola’s side advance to the FA Cup quarter-finals and take another step closer to winning a remarkable back-to-back treble.

Kevin De Bruyne rightly earned plenty of plaudits for creating four of the goals and Mateo Kovacic scored a beauty but Erling Haaland was the star of the show.

The Norwegian sensation obliterated the Luton defence and scored five times, becoming the first City player to ever do so in two different games.

It was yet another display of his brutal efficiency in front of goal and, it sounds like there is even more to come.

Erling Haaland delivers exciting fitness update

Haaland had remained largely injury-free during his first 18 months at City but was finally struck down in November last year.

The 23-year-old suffered a stress reaction in his foot that saw him miss 12 games over a two-month period.

Haaland was gradually feeling his way back to fitness in his first games back but is ‘finally’ feeling like himself again.

He told ITV: “Yeah, my fitness is getting back to my best finally.

“I’m feeling good. Finally feeling good, that’s an amazing feeling. It’s coming, we’re coming. Exciting times ahead.”

Perfect timing from Erling Haaland

Haaland had only managed to score three goals in his first seven games since returning to action as he worked his way back up to full fitness, quite low by his standards.

But after his haul against Luton, he has fired back up to a goal-per-game average with eight in eight.

It’s scary to think Haaland has still been playing so well despite not being at his best but he couldn’t be timing his return to full fitness better.

City face Manchester United and Liverpool over the next week-and-a-half and come up against Arsenal at the end of March.

It’s a period which could decide where the Premier League title goes and City will fancy their chances if Haaland is firing on all cylinders.
