Premier League legend Alan Shearer gave his reaction last night to Manchester City losing 1-0 to Aston Villa.
City crashed to a defeat at Villa Park and it is now four league games without a victory for Pep Guardiola.
It was an incredible performance from the hosts, who completely outplayed City in every aspect and were superior in all departments.
City appeared shellshocked at times during the game, and could not cope with the Villa pressing and their invention. Josko Gvardiol was a player who particularly struggled against the very lively Leon Bailey, who was the match-winner in the end.
It was the kind of dominant performance that many would probably expect from City themselves.
Pep Guardiola has plenty of thinking to do right now, but Shearer doesn’t think it’s quite time to panic just yet…
Alan Shearer makes prediction about Manchester City after defeat to Aston Villa

Shearer was actually at Old Trafford last night on punditry duty for the Manchester United vs Chelsea game for Amazon.
But word of the result at Villa Park reached the team and the Newcastle United legend gave his thoughts.
In his eyes, even though City are in a bad moment, he has faith that there will be a turnaround, saying: “It (Declan Rice’s late winner vs Luton Town) gives Arsenal that little bit of a gap now between them and Manchester City – I’m sure they’ll come back.”
Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink was also on hand to offer his feeling about City’s latest result. He is also not too fearful for Pep’s side. He added: “They are the team to beat, I think. Obviously Arsenal, everybody is thinking they have a big chance and they have, but for me, nobody is speaking about Liverpool.”
Everyone knows what City are capable of
Manchester City, as much as they can dominate, do like a bit of hardship.
We saw it last season, with City being off the pace until about the end of January, before things really clicked into gear.
We also saw City almost throw away the title against Villa on the final day of the 2021/22 season.
It just seems that City have to go through these tough spells and so, anyone writing the team off now is a fool.
Guardiola undoubtedly has plenty to consider right now. But he’s arguably the greatest manager of all time, and you would be a very brave man to bet against him turning City into a juggernaut again for the second half of the season.
