Chris Sutton has said that Jack Grealish could be set to lose out on his place at Manchester City to the in-form Jeremy Doku.

Speaking on the Daily Mail’s It’s All Kicking Off podcast, the pundit had his say on the chances of the Englishman being benched for the foreseeable future.

It seems like Chris Sutton certainly believes that the arrival of Jeremy Doku coupled with his electric displays could become a matter of concern for Jack Grealish.

Chris Sutton says Jeremy Doku form is a problem for Jack Grealish

Branded as ‘phenomenal’ by Stephen Clemence, the 28-year-old was extremely vital during City’s treble-winning season.

However, Doku has hit the ground running in sky blue and looks set to have nailed down his place as his side’s starting left-winger.

As a result, Chris Sutton believes Jeremy Doku and his blistering form is a problem for Jack Grealish.

“After watching Doku at the weekend, I think Grealish is in a bit of bother in terms of holding down a place. I think Doku has overtaken him. Am I saying he is going to struggle to get a game? I mean, they are playing so many games.”

“But I think Doku has that position on the left-hand side for Man City nailed down in front of Grealish. I really think that is one to watch.”

Jack Grealish should be tested out centrally

While Chris Sutton has hit the nail on the head, it is key to understand that Jack Grealish and Jeremy Doku are fundamentally different players and especially, wingers.

The former will likely never replicate the latter’s impact as he is anything but a touchline winger.

Instead, Grealish is at his best in more central areas, for which there is a space in the team alongside either Foden or Alvarez.

In fact, the former Aston Villa attacker is perhaps the closest thing Manchester City have to Kevin De Bruyne as a ball-carrier.

Perhaps deploying Jack Grealish as an advanced midfielder may be the best possible solution to ensure both him and Jeremy Doku thrive simultaneously.
