David Beckham has highlighted one figure at Manchester City that he is a big fan of.

The Manchester club are currently gearing up for their next Premier League season to kick off after having won their fifth title in six years last term as well as picking up the FA Cup and the Champions League.

With that recent success in mind, one former Manchester United player, who is currently aiming for the club he now owns to have their own success, has named one important figure at the Etihad Stadium that he has been blown away by.

In a recent interview with The Athletic, Beckham had this to say when discussing City’s success in recent years.

He said: “It’s not just about what they’re winning. You can see that Man City are building for the future, not just from season to season. They’ve got stability with Pep [Guardiola], who I am in awe of.”

Guardiola was appointed as City’s manager back in 2016 after having successful spells in charge of Barcelona and Bayern Munich.

During his time at the Etihad, the Spaniard has overlooked 413 matches in all competitions, winning 305, drawing 49 and losing 59.

In terms of the silverware he’s won at City, the 52-year-old has won five Premier League tiles, two FA Cups, four League Cups and his first Champions League since 2011, making it his third of his career.

Taking into account how successful he’s been at the Manchester club and for how long he’s been doing it for, it’s no surprise that Beckham has been amazed by what Guardiola has done during his time with the Citizens.

Even though Erling Haaland had a lot of headlines and took the limelight away from a lot of the other players at City by scoring 52 goals in 53 appearances, it would have been understandable if Beckham was full of praise for him.

However, the fact that he hailed the manager when discussing how impressive the club have been as a whole in recent years shows how significant Guardiola is.
