Michael Cuisance has now revealed that Pep Guardiola tried to sign him for Manchester City back in 2017.

The Frenchman shared the revelation when speaking to So Foot.

So, what did Michael Cuisance say about Pep Guardiola and Manchester City? Let’s take a look…

What’s the story?

Well, the 24-year-old claims that he actually met up with the Spaniard to discuss a move to the Etihad Stadium in his office.

Cuisance said: “I met Pep Guardiola before signing for Gladbach in 2017. He followed me and wanted me to sign for Manchester City, and having Guardiola in front of you, in his office, is impressive. I finally chose Germany to have a better chance of starting professionally and also because of its proximity to Alsace.

“I didn’t see myself starting directly at City. I recognised myself more in the Gladbach project, but with Guardiola, we really had a big discussion, about the way he wanted to play me and how he had followed my development.

Cuisance now finds himself playing in the Bundesliga 2 – Germany’s second division – at VfL Osnabrück, on loan from Venezia.

Speaking about whether he regrets his decision to reject Manchester City or not, the Strasbourg-born maestro said: “I’m not sure Pep knows who I am yet, since he has other concerns, but he’ll know again when I’m back on top. I am convinced of it.”

By the sounds of it, Cuisance is confident that he will once again put himself back in the European spotlight, having previously won the UEFA Champions League at Bayern Munich and coming within a whisker of joining Leeds United back in 2020.

Manchester City interest proves Michael Cuisance is clearly talented

Hopefully, the VfL Osnabrück No.27 can get his career back on track, as he was one of the most exciting young midfielders in Europe a few years ago.

Guardiola doesn’t just try to sign anybody, so it speaks volumes that there were concrete talks about a move to Manchester City.

There is a long way back for Cuisance to catch Manchester City’s attention again – given the wealth of talent at the Etihad Stadium – but hopefully, he can rediscover his electric form once again.
