Lukas Podolski has now revealed that he spoke to Manchester City about a move to the Etihad Stadium.
The 38-year-old was speaking on the FC Köln podcast.
So, what did Lukas Podolski say about Manchester City? Let’s take a look…
What Lukas Podolski said about Manchester City
Well, the 2014 World Cup winner is now winding down his hugely successful career in Poland with Górnik Zabrze after notable spells at Bayern Munich, Arsenal and FC Köln.
However, Podolski also could have turned out for Manchester City had things gone differently.
The man who won 130 caps for Germany said: “I was in negotiations with Manchester City when I was at Bayern Munich. They visited my agent and me in Munich and wanted to convince me to change.”

Podolski was at Bayern Munich from 2006 to 2009 – so these discussions are likely to have taken place towards the end of his time at the Allianz Arena.
The striker eventually moved back to FC Köln in 2009 instead of Manchester City, before eventually ending up in the Premier League with Arsenal in 2012.
Lukas Podolski would have been a fun addition at Manchester City
The early days of Sheikh Mansour’s reign were very exciting, with talents such as Emmanuel Adebayor, Carlos Tevez and Robinho arriving at the Etihad Stadium.
Manchester City boasted a highly entertaining side also consisting of gems such as Craig Bellamy and Shaun Wright-Phillips, so had Podolski also been thrown into the mix, supporters surely would have felt spoiled.

Podolski is something of a footballing icon amongst his generation, scoring 232 goals in 659 appearances while also boasting a memorably powerful shooting technique.
While it would been nice to have the Gliwice-born striker at Manchester City, Mansour recovered well from the rejection, eventually signing a transformative figure in Sergio Aguero a few years later.
The rest – as they say – is history.
