‘In that dressing room’… BBC pundit says £50m Man City star will be ‘desperate’ to do one thing vs Fluminense

Pundit Michael Brown has dropped a claim about Kyle Walker ahead of Manchester City’s upcoming match against Fluminense in the FIFA Club World Cup final.

After beating Urawa Red Diamonds 3-0 on Tuesday, the Citizens will face off against Fluminense this evening to see who will lift the Club World Cup trophy.

Looking ahead to this game in Saudi Arabia, one pundit and former City player has shared his thoughts on the match.

Brown says Walker will be desperate to win the Club World Cup

Speaking in a recent interview with Ellie Thomason for BBC Sport, Brown had this to say about the upcoming final and how Walker, in particular, will be approaching the game.

He said: “I think the Club World Cup is a big competition. Manchester City have never even been in it so the players want to lift the trophy and say ‘We won that also’. There is a hunger in that dressing room and Kyle Walker is desperate to hold the cup with the captain’s armband on.”

In the absence of Kevin De Bruyne through injury, Walker has been City’s captain for the majority of the season.

This led to him being the one to lift the UEFA Super Cup when the Manchester club beat Sevilla on penalties back in August.

After that game, the Englishman, whom City paid £50m to sign back in 2017, said that it was a “fantastic feeling” to win a trophy that the club hadn’t won before, which makes it easy to see why Brown thinks the right-back will be desperate to win tonight’s final.

Moving forward, with a trophy on the line and the opportunity to make history for the club once again, Walker and whoever else features in the game for Pep Guardiola’s side this evening will have to make sure they don’t go into the match with a complacent mindset and are able to get the job done before getting back into Premier League action.
