Manuel Akanji has now opened up on what the mood was like at Manchester City following the 1-0 defeat to Arsenal.

The Switzerland international was speaking to Sky Sports.

So, what did Manuel Akanji say about the atmosphere at Manchester City? Let’s take a look…

What’s the story?

Well, the £15m defender revealed that the Manchester City squad were a bit down in the dressing room after succumbing to a second successive defeat in the Premier League.

The Citizens lost 2-1 to Wolves at Molineux and then suffered a 1-0 defeat to Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium before the international break.

Manchester City also lost 1-0 to Newcastle in the Carabao Cup Third Round before the two setbacks in Premier League action.

Speaking about the defeats, Akanji said: “We had two losses (in a row) in the Premier League, so it’s not something we’re used to. You could see it in the changing room, that it wasn’t a good mood.

“The good thing is we can show our reaction to this, at the game on the weekend at home in front of our fans.”

Manuel Akanji and Manchester City face a tough test

There are no easy games in the Premier League, although Pep Guardiola would have surely preferred to face a club other than Brighton this Saturday.

The Seagulls are a top side under Roberto De Zerbi, and have scored the most goals in the Premier League so far this season with 21 in just eight outings.

Last time out in this fixture, Brighton grabbed a 1-1 draw at the Amex Stadium, and the Seasiders will surely smell blood after watching Manchester City lose successive games before the break.

Hopefully, Manchester City can get back to winning ways with a dominant performance against De Zerbi’s men at the Etihad Stadium.
