Kyle Walker reportedly wants to sign a new contract at Manchester City in the next few days.
Earlier in the summer transfer window, the right-back was heavily linked with a move to Bayern Munich, and had even verbally agreed to join the German club.
However, after having a behind-the-scenes chat with Pep Guardiola, the Englishman decided to stay at the Manchester club.
Now though, with previous reports claiming the 33-year-old will be signing a new deal at City, one journalist has shared some fresh information regarding the player and his immediate future.
Walker wants to sign new City contract soon
In a recent Twitter post, journalist Florian Plettenberg had this to say on the current situation.
He said: “Kyle Walker wants to sign his new contract at @ManCity in the next days! #MCFC
“FC Bayern has inquired about him in the last week again – but there was no chance. He will stay at Man City.”
City signed the defender from Tottenham Hotspur back in the 2017 summer transfer window in a deal worth £50m.
Since then, Walker has gone on to make 259 appearances for the Citizens across all competitions, winning numerous trophies along the way including five Premier League titles.
With Guardiola saying back in July, before the full-back made the decision to stay at City, that he and the club will fight to keep hold of the player, this shows how much of an important figure Walker is.
Having now completed the full 90 minutes in all three of City’s Premier League matches this season, wearing the captain’s armband for the previous two, this further highlights how significant he is for the team and Guardiola.
Even though Bayern have apparently made another effort to try and sign Walker, it would be a massive positive for everyone at City to see him sign a new deal over the next few days.
