Julian Alvarez delivered a star performance during Manchester City’s 4-0 win over Fluminense in the FIFA Club World Cup final.
Having lifted the UEFA Super Cup back in August, the Citizens declared themselves as world champions this evening by beating Fluminense 4-0 in Saudi Arabia.
Out of the players that featured in the game across the 90 minutes, we felt that one stood head and shoulders above the rest in terms of his performance – Alvarez.
Alvarez blew Fluminense away

It didn’t take the Argentine long to make a significant impact in the game, as he opened the scoring with just 40 seconds on the clock by rebounding a shot from Nathan Ake past the Fluminense goalkeeper.
After then providing the assist for Phil Foden’s goal to put City 3-0 up, the 23-year-old then ended the final in the same manner he started it, by putting the ball in the back of the net and securing the deserved victory for Pep Guardiola’s side.
Across the 90 minutes, Alvarez had just 36 touches of the ball in total but managed to have such a big impact by delivering the goal contributions he did.
This display ultimately earned the striker, who has now won five major titles during his time at the Manchester club, a strong overall match rating of 9.4/10 from SofaScore, making him the highest-rated player on the night.
Across the entire season so far, the World Cup winner has now scored 10 goals and provided nine assists in 25 appearances, highlighting how much of a deadly attacking figure he is.
With the Citizens now set to return to Premier League action in the coming weeks following their successful stint in Saudi Arabia, everyone at the club will undoubtedly be hoping that Alvarez can continue where he left off in terms of scoring goals and providing assists for his side.
