Shaun Wright-Phillips has lavished praise on to Jack Grealish for how well he has adapted his game at Manchester City.

The Sky Blues legend made this claim in an interview with FTBL, while discussing how he had a similar role to the 27-year-old at Aston Villa.

However, Shaun Wright-Phillips has been blown away by how Jack Grealish has transformed his game in a Manchester City shirt.

Shaun Wright-Phillips lauds Jack Grealish transformation at Manchester City

Michael Owen pinpointed this exact same aspect after the Premier League champions battered Real Madrid 4-0 in the Champions League semi-final second leg.

During his debut season at the Etihad Stadium, the England international, like a number of signings under Pep Guardiola took time to adapt to his ways.

However, as Jack Grealish has well and truly arrived at Manchester City this campaign, Shaun Wright-Phillips has lauded him.

“Jack at Villa, just gave him the ball, pretty much like it was for me at City and he just went like this [gestures towards dribbling past defenders], it didn’t matter whether he lost the ball.”

Shaun Wright-Phillips zeroed in on how Jack Grealish has grown as a player at Manchester City, saying, “Now, Jack has both to his game [linking up with his teammates and dribbling] whereas before, he only had one. So now, it’s about picking and choosing when to do it, when not.”

“The way Jack has grown for me at Man City is incredible! For all the stick he’s got, everything that he’s learned at Villa, everything he’s learned under Pep, for me is kind of all coming together now.”

The best is yet to come from Jack Grealish

Shaun Wright-Phillips has hit the nail on the head, as Jack Grealish has settled at Manchester City and looks like a Pep Guardiola player.

However, Grealish is only getting started.

For starters, it is likely that the Englishman will start to put goal and assist numbers on the board as he continues to progress at City.

To add to that, if Guardiola and Co. bring in a brand-new traditional left-back, that would aid the Premier League winner’s game.

Much like at Aston Villa where Matt Targett provided the width, Jack Grealish, who is a wide playmaker and not an actual winger will be allowed to take up more central spaces, where he is at his unplayable best.

If Grealish is as instrumental to this City side currently, the prospect of him growing from strength to strength must be scary for opposition defences.
