After Manchester City thrashed Huddersfield Town 5-0 in the FA Cup Third Round, Pep Guardiola lauded Oscar Bobb.
The Spaniard revealed that he was especially impressed with Bobb’s display in the second half during his post-match press conference (via BeanymanSports).
Ahead of the contest, Paul Dickov also hailed the 20-year-old as a “real talent.”
Pep Guardiola praises “incredible threat” Oscar Bobb after Manchester City destroy Huddersfield
After his sparkling performance from the left wing against Sheffield United, the teenager started as a right winger against Darren Moore’s side.
It’s safe to say that Manchester City youngster Oscar Bobb impressed Pep Guardiola after his promising display against Huddersfield.

“So, the first half, [Oscar Bobb] was a little bit shy. A part was because it was so difficult to find the spaces, he didn’t find it but after the goal and after, we adjust something in the half-time, he’s a guy when receiving in the pockets as a striker, his first turn is quite similar to Phil [Foden] and always is [an] incredible threat”, he said (via BeanymanSports).
“Yeah, was lucky in the goal but [he] has to be there and after, three or four shots was blocked and as much games, play 90 minutes again and always, so far, this season, in pre-season, in the Red Star [Belgrade] game, few minutes played for us, have been in a high, high level. So, it’s another player for the academy coming here and this is good.”
Oscar Bobb put in a brilliant performance
It’s fair to assume that Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola is not the only one who was blown away by how terrific Oscar Bobb looked against Huddersfield.
The highly-rated attacker especially came into his own in central areas, picking up the ball outside the box and dancing past players for fun.
On another day, Bobb would perhaps have had another sublime solo goal to his name, similar to his strike against Red Star Belgrade in the Champions League.
However, Oscar Bobb showcased his intelligent decision-making by picking Kevin De Bruyne out with a pass that led to Jeremy Doku bagging a late goal upon his return from injury.
In our view, Pep Guardiola makes a fair point by claiming that the Norwegian international was struggling to impose himself on the game during the first half.
But it seems like Oscar Bobb grew into the contest and merited the praise he received from the Catalan tactician after his wondrous second-half showing against Huddersfield.
It seems unlikely that Bobb will be handed a start in City’s upcoming encounter against Newcastle United.
But it seems like such decisions do not seem to faze the highly-rated technician, who is giving Guardiola a selection headache by impressing whenever his services are called upon in any capacity.
