Sky Sports journalist Dharmesh Sheth has shared some details regarding Juventus’ stance on potentially signing Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips this month.
Last month, it was reported that the Italian club were in talks to sign the midfielder from City.
However, almost two weeks into the January transfer window, Phillips is still in Pep Guardiola’s squad, despite his lack of game time.
Now though, one journalist has shared some behind-the-scenes details on why the links between Phillips and Juventus have died down.
Sheth says Allegri doesn’t fancy Phillips

Speaking in a recent edition of Transfer Talk, Sheth had this to say about the situation surrounding Phillips.
He said: “It looks like it’s going to happen somewhere, it has to happen somewhere in this January transfer window.
“Juventus were interested but the information we’re getting now is that Max Allegri the manager doesn’t see Kalvin Phillips as the profile of player he wants and it looks like they’re going to go forward with this squad until the end of the season at least anyway, so the Juventus one has quietened down.
“The Newcastle one is the interesting one but his again is against the backdrop of this news that maybe Newcastle United might need to start selling players to comply with FFP.”
With just 10 appearances and two starts to his name this season prior to City’s Premier League match away at Newcastle, it’s understandable why the England international has been backed by Sheth to leave the Manchester club this month.
However, with Allegri apparently not keen to add the 28-year-old to his ranks at Juventus, it seems likely that a move to the Italian club could be off the table for Phillips this month.
