Chelsea manager, Mauricio Pochettino, has heaped praise on Pep Guardiola and what he has achieved during his time in charge of Manchester City.

In his first interview with the west London club, Pochettino claimed that Chelsea have been the greatest team in England over the past decade.

Having presumably forgotten the Manchester club existed, the Argentine has now come out with some comments about City and their manager.

When asked in his first press conference as the new Chelsea boss if City are unchallengeable now that they have won the treble, Pochettino said this.

He said: “I want to congratulate Pep, it is amazing to see a club that worked very well for many years with stability and the tools to give the coach, the job that he was doing.

“I think we need to believe also that we can create good things, it’s going to be tough but we need to believe.”

During Guardiola’s time in charge of the Citizens, they have won five Premier League titles, two FA Cups, four League Cups and one Champions League.

This is the sort of success that the new Chelsea boss will be dreaming he can achieve in his third spell in charge of an English club.

Bearing in mind how Chelsea finished 11 places below City in the Premier League last season with 45 fewer points having scored 56 fewer goals, it’s safe to say that the 51-year-old has a significant job on his hands getting the Stamford Bridge outfit anywhere near Guardiola’s side.

However, he has started things out on the right foot by claiming he believes he can be successful in his new role.

Moving forward, while City will undoubtedly be aiming to regain the three titles they won last season, it will be up to the likes of Chelsea, and other sides aiming to knock the Citizens off the top spot, to do so.
