Leonardo Bonucci has now commented on Manchester City No.5 John Stones.
The Italy international was speaking to The Sun.
So, what did Leonardo Bonucci say about John Stones? Let’s take a look…
Bonucci praises Stones
Well, the 36-year-old is one of the best central defenders of his generation, having guided Italy to UEFA EURO 2020 glory while also making the UEFA Team of the Year in 2016.
Bonucci told The Sun about how he rejected a £100m move to Manchester City in 2016 – before the Citizens eventually signed Stones in a £47.5m deal.
Speaking about the England international, the Italian said: “I struggle to find a deficiency in players like Stones, who have won what he did. He’s a leader, reads the game well, has rhythms and is intelligent.
“He’s a technical player and a nasty defender. At City, Guardiola saw a perfect role for him, to be more of a ball playing defender… Stones has done great things and I like him a lot. He’s one of the best in the world.”

Lofty praise indeed.
Stones delivers injury update to Manchester City fans
It has been a difficult 2023/24 campaign for the 29-year-old so far as injuries disrupt his progress.
Stones had only just worked his way back into the starting XI under Pep Guardiola before suffering a serious ankle injury in the 3-1 win over Everton.
While there is yet to be an official timeframe on his return, the Manchester City No.5 told fans on Instagram that he would be back “soon” – which sounds fairly promising.

Stones wrote: “So good to finish the year with a win, what a year it’s been!! Gutted I couldn’t be involved today but I’ll be back soon.”
Hopefully, the Barnsley-born maestro can avoid any further injury setbacks when he eventually returns.
