Alan Shearer reckons Manchester City will surely be in for Brighton youngster Evan Ferguson at some point in the future – and he is not shocked there is already reportedly some interest from the club.

The teenager has burst onto the scene in recent times for the Seagulls and seriously impressed.

He appears to have a very compete game despite his tender years.

And he is already attracting a fair bit of attention.

It was claimed last week that City are already monitoring the Republic of Ireland striker.

And now, the Premier League’s all-time top goalscorer Alan Shearer has delivered his verdict on Ferguson – and he can see him in a City shirt…

Alan Shearer absolutely loves Manchester City target Evan Ferguson

For him, there is a very strong possibility that City will come calling for the 18-year-old at some point, even despite already having Erling Haaland.

He said: “It’s no surprise Manchester City are reportedly among the clubs watching him. It would be more of a surprise if they were not.

“It wouldn’t be a shock if Ferguson was the next huge transfer out of Brighton, not that I wish it for them, but if he keeps progressing the way he is doing, it’s inevitable that something will happen not too far down the line — for the right price, of course.”

Everybody knows what Brighton are like when it comes to selling.

So there is every chance that City may need to fork out a British record fee if they are to land this young player Shearer describes as ‘a very special talent’ who ‘be a superstar within a couple of years’.

Reportedly, he already has a price tag of around £100 million. That will only increase going forwards.

Ferguson to City would be so exciting

It would be amazing to see Ferguson making a move to the Etihad in a couple of years.

He is well on track to become an absolutely top player, and there is no doubt he will cost an absolute fortune given Brighton’s ruthlessness when it comes to selling.

The thought of him playing alongside Erling Haaland is a truly frightening prospect.

It has been quite a while since City regularly lined up with two out-and-out strikers.

But this is surely something most supporters would welcome.
