Micah Richards has said that he has not seen a player improve as much as Manchester City legend Kyle Walker.

Speaking on the Rest Is Football podcast, the popular pundit gave his two cents on the Englishman’s sparkling showing in his nation’s 3-1 win against Scotland.

It’s safe to say that Micah Richards is a massive fan of Kyle Walker and his growth as a player.

Micah Richards calls Kyle Walker ‘the most improved player’ he has ever seen

Phil Foden sang his countryman’s praises after the game as well, commenting on his Instagram post saying, ‘what a player.’

Branded as ‘intelligent’ by Richard Dunne (via Manchester City’s official website), the 33-year-old stood out against Steve Clarke’s men, assisting Phil Foden’s opener as well.

Micah Richards lauded Kyle Walker for his evolution as a right-back over the years, saying, “He’s the most improved player I think I’ve ever seen. Well, let’s go right back. Sheffield United, I watched him in a game and he was electric, just pace. Now, he’s not got any slower but his final third [quality] in terms of his delivery needed a lot of work. He was, I wouldn’t say always out of position but he was using his pace to to get out of position.”

“Now, he can go into a three at the back but he can still play high and wide as a full-back and I just think he’s a complete full-back. I think he’s the greatest ever English right-sided [full-back]. But I think he’s now surpassed Gary Neville. He’s won all the trophies, he’s won the treble…”

Kyle Walker has constantly strived for excellence and it has paid off

Micah Richards is spot on as even during his early days at Tottenham, Kyle Walker was often slated for being suspect defensively.

Cut to his time at Manchester City and it would be fair to crown him as one of, if not the best 1v1 defensive full-back of his generation.

At Spurs, while Walker was an attacking phenom, he adapted to Guardiola’s demands of playing in an inverted position or even in a back three instantly.

It is Kyle Walker’s constant evolution that has made him an undeniable great of the game.
