Micah Richards has said that Erling Haaland is already a better striker than Wayne Rooney.
On the Sky Sports Premier League YouTube channel, the popular pundit was asked to pick the greatest No.9 to have ever played in the division, with him choosing Haaland almost all the way.
Recently branded as “a defender’s worst nightmare” by Stephen Warnock, it seems like the 23-year-old is already being spoken about in the same breath as legends of the game.
Micah Richards says Erling Haaland is better than Wayne Rooney
Since signing from Borussia Dortmund for a fee of £51.2 million (Metro) in the summer of 2022, the Manchester City hitman has performed in such a manner that he seems destined to end his career as one of the greatest of all time.
Having led City to a treble during his debut season and finishing second in the Ballon d’Or race, the sky is well and truly the limit for the Norwegian superstar.
It seems like Erling Haaland has one of his biggest admirers in Micah Richards, who claimed that he is already a better striker than Manchester United icon Wayne Rooney.

“It’s not really fair that, is it? Because Rooney played No.10, No.9, played on the wing. But I’ve got to go Haaland”, Richards told Sky Sports.
Erling Haaland will surpass the Englishman as an out-and-out striker
Micah Richards has a point because if he has not already, Erling Haaland will surpass Wayne Rooney as an out-and-out striker.
As he said, the English legend was a No.10 for most of his career and was shifted across the front line.
Haaland, however, is a natural-born striker and has shown time and again that there may not be many better goalscorers than him that the game has ever seen.
While the Leeds-born marksman has a way to go to match Rooney as an all-round player and his legacy, as a goalscorer, he may have already surpassed the retired forward at his best.
