Pep Guardiola is now in the ninth of what could be his 11 seasons in charge of Manchester City.
Despite guiding City to multiple domestic and European trophies since his arrival at the Etihad Stadium back in 2016, the Catalan has seen his side lose their last five matches.
The latest of which being a disheartening 4-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur in front of their home crowd.
Prior to this match, Guardiola put pen to paper on a two-year contract extension to put the uncertainty around his future with the Blues to bed.
In fact, Guardiola said it took two hours to agree on the extension.
Even though he’s gone through his worst-ever run as a manager in terms of consecutive defeats, Guardiola has now found himself being mentioned in the same breath as two of the more well-known former Premier League managers.

Jamie Carragher on whether Man City could sack Pep Guardiola
When asked on Monday Night Football if he thinks Guardiola is unsackable at City, despite their dismal run of results, Jamie Carragher gave this response.
He said: “Yes, he is. Sir Alex Ferguson was unsackable. I think Jurgen Klopp was probably unsackable at Liverpool.
“There’s no way Manchester City would ever sack Pep Guardiola, even if he went two or three years without winning anything.
“I always felt that at Liverpool, with Jurgen Klopp. If he went two or three years without winning a trophy, we’d all still want him to be our manager, and who would you ever get who’s better than Pep Guardiola?”
Guardiola can get City out of their sticky patch
Having had such a successful time with City in terms of the silverware they’ve won together, it’s safe to say that Guardiola has enough credit in the bank with the club to put him in the unsackable category as Carragher claims Ferguson and Klopp were in.
| Premier League | Matches | Won | Drawn | Lost | Titles Won |
| Pep Guardiola | 316 | 232 | 43 | 41 | 6 |
| Alex Ferguson | 810 | 528 | 168 | 114 | 13 |
| Jurgen Klopp | 334 | 209 | 78 | 47 | 1 |
However, even though the 53-year-old has signed up for two more years at the Manchester club, everyone there will be very eager to see him get the team out of their poor run of form and back to winning ways.

Bearing in mind how City have a track record of ending Premier League campaigns with consistent victories, this should reassure some supporters that their side can do the same again this time around with Guardiola’s knowledge and experience guiding them.
